"Hanno Hagen", the Artist

Hanno Hagen takes her inspiration from the world all around her. While she loves the organic forms of nature, she is often intrigued by a man-made shape, like a detail on a piece of jewelry

Hanno Hagen moved from Germany to New England in 1966, and became interested in ceramics after watching a potter in Old Sturbridge Village. In 1979, she was awarded a commision to do a 27' x 8' mural for a swimming pool. That experience prompted her to study sculpture at Cal State which, in turn, led to an opportunity to scupt marble at Nicoli Studio in Italy. In 1989, a "fluke" commission for another large mural brought Hanno to the Big Island in Hawaii.
